Wands of brilliant fuchsia blooms sway gracefully high above lush green foliage on this low-maintenance, easy-to-grow perennial. Forming a clump of spear-shaped leaves about 2’ high and 4’ wide, long, airy flower spikes emerge in mid-Summer, held a foot or more over the foliage with tiny bell-shaped blooms appearing in dense, club-like clusters. The show continues for about three months (!), attracting butterflies and providing blooms for bouquets, fresh or dried. Clay tolerant and deer resistant, it likes plenty of water and is perfectly happy abutting a lawn or planted near a water feature. Ground hugging foliage makes it a lovely choice for the front of a bed. Provide afternoon shade in hot, inland gardens.
