Toramame in Hokkaido has been referred to as a large Fukumame, safflower kidney beans along with the luxury Namame. While the white background and basic, in characteristically around the navel is deep yellow brown and Danki brown mottle has entered, from the fact that entering condition of the pattern is similar to the tiger, it will be referred to as a Toramame. Original name is in the varieties of vine called "Concord Paul" (con-cord pole), cultivation has begun been introduced from the United States of Concord, Massachusetts in the Meiji era. Now it has been cultivated new varieties, such as "Fukutoramame".
